Stephen Greaves | Director of Photography & Founder of Vizzcast NYC

My Background in Broadcast & Production

I’m a New York–based Director of Photography and the founder of Mixel Inc and Vizzcast, with over 20 years of experience working across broadcast, documentary, and live production.

I originally started my career in Australia, working across major networks including 60 Minutes, Sunrise, and other national programs, before moving to New York in 2013. Since then, I’ve worked with international broadcasters including BBC, ITV, Al Jazeera, PBS NewsHour, Vice, and ABC Australia.

My work has taken me from fast-moving field production to high-profile, multi-camera interview setups. I’ve filmed inside the White House, covered world leaders at the United Nations, and worked with figures including President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and Hugh Jackman.

From Field Production to Studio Work

I work across lighting, camera operation, and live broadcast workflows, often building multi-camera interview setups both on location and in studio environments. I also provide live transmission from the field using LiveU or Dejero systems, working across bonded 5G networks to ensure stable delivery.

This includes assignments in the field, such as traveling to Grenada to film Hurricane Beryl for PBS NewsHour. I handle everything from filming, managing equipment and carnets, through to editing and working closely with producers to shape the vision and story.

Through Mixel, I own and operate Sony FX6 and FX2 cinema cameras, along with lighting from Litepanels and other high-end production equipment, including Sachtler tripods. This allows me to work efficiently with reliable, professional gear built for in-field production.

Building a Podcast & Video Studio in Manhattan

Vizzcast is a direct extension of that experience. I built the studio in Midtown Manhattan to solve the same problems I’ve dealt with for years on location, creating a controlled, flexible environment that supports interviews, podcasts, live streaming, and broadcast production.

The space is designed for how content is actually made today, with multi-camera setups, professional lighting, and high-speed connectivity, allowing productions to move efficiently without compromising quality.

Social Media & Recent Work

Alongside my production work, I create short-form reels and educational content across Instagram and other platforms, sharing practical insights on lighting, camera setups, and real-world broadcast workflows. It’s a way to break down how things are actually done on set and make that knowledge accessible.

More recently, I’ve continued working across high-profile assignments, including filming at the White House with the Daily Mail, as well as shoots involving Bill Clinton and James Patterson. These projects sit alongside a broader mix of broadcast, corporate, and studio work, all of which informs how I approach both production and the studio environment at Vizzcast.

My Approach

After two decades filming multi-camera broadcast interviews for networks like BBC, ITV, and Al Jazeera, I set out to bring that same standard into a purpose-built studio. Vizzcast is built for reliable, broadcast-level production, whether that’s podcasts, interviews, or live streaming.

Everything is designed to be simple, efficient, and aligned with broadcast television standards.
